An evening for parents and teachers with Kim John Payne, M. Ed. SIMPLICITY PARENTING

Why Less is More for Children…Five Steps You Can Take to Help Your Child to Feel Calmer, Happier and More Secure. WHY SIMPLIFY: “The children in the developing world often have had negative sensory overwhelm, and we give our children sensory overwhelm here – too many trinkets, too many choices, too much information – and this causes a cumulative stress issue in kids that leads to behavioral disorders.” HOW TO SIMPLIFY: Kim Payne will help parents at the talk create their own Simplicity Menu for their family, breaking it down into five layers: Simplify your environment (books, toys, etc.) food and mealtimes, schedules, information, and discipline.

I just attended this at one of our local Waldorf schools and found it to be so enlightening. I wonder of the others that have attended these workshops – What gems did you come away with and how did you apply them to your household?
