I just attended this at one of our local Waldorf schools and found it to be so enlightening. I wonder of the others that have attended these workshops - What gems did you come away with and how did you apply them to your household?

I’d like to clarify something – picture of me in my present age or when I was still younger? I already have a ready-to-be-hung self portrait that I would like to submit. How and where can I submit my entry?

I also wonder what if someone wants to buy my entry? Will you sell it?

We're currently on a campaign to replace all our lightbulbs, or as many as we can, with compact florescent.
And we're going to hang a clothes line for the first time this summer, if winter ever ends!:)
Honestly, we should have a wind turbine up here on the hilltop, maybe we'll look into that this year!

Noah and I had a lot of fun. He didn't want to throw his seed-filled egg (compliments of Lex and Lena) against a tree, so it still sits in his booster seat cup-holder...maybe that's a good thing since Spring seems far away and the birds still need some seeds!

I invested in good quality glass storage bowls with plastic lids that I use to bring leftovers to work for lunch. I try to carpool as much as I can, now that I commute to Greenfield every day. After years of working at home, and prior to that, living in cities where I took public transportation to work and didn't even own a car, it feels like such a waste to drive by myself to town, knowing that there are so many other people on the road doing the same thing at the same time. Carpooling can be tricky because as a society we are so used to having complete freedom to come and go as we please, but I enjoy it despite the logistical challenges because it's social, the time goes faster, I use less gas, and less carbon-dioxide goes into the atmosphere. So if you work in Greenfield too and want to carpool from the hilltowns, let me know!

We can't wait for the silent auction! It was so fun last year, and will surely be even more fun (for me) this year since I'll have my baby on my back and NOT in my womb!

Speaking of baby-on-my-back, I'm donating an asian-style Mei-Tai baby carrier that I started making for last year's auction, but was unable to finish in time due to the loveliness of the first trimester. Mei-Tai carriers are my absolute favorite of all the various baby-wearing devices, and I'm so glad to be able to spread the love.

Lena is donating another hour-long sea kayaking lesson (kayak, paddle, and PFD provided). I know she had a great time giving the lesson to Neel and Judy last summer.

Last year we got a great lambskin and a cute little hat for the babe. I wonder what we'll be bidding on this year . . . Looking forward to it!

We use cloth bags for grocery shopping too. Not only are they earth-friendly, but they also work much better than paper bags. They can hold a lot more, and they never rip!

We also use cloth diapers on the baby, and better yet, try to go diaper-free as much as possible (most babies around the world don't wear diapers). Zeben (5 months old) uses the potty more than 50% of the time, and we are working towards ditching the diapers all together. You can see Zeben sitting on his potty here: www.babiesonline.com/babies/z/zebensky

We use as little electricity as possible, and unplug things like the TV, VCR/DVD player, baby monitor, stereo when not in use.

We try to buy locally as much as possible.
